Yes, George Washington, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson all utilized the process of decomposing food and animal waste for the benefit of their gardens. And truth be told, the art of composting goes back much further than the creation of the United States.
In fact, composting has been around for over 150 centuries. Compost piles were used from the Neolithic Age through Napoleon’s reign and on into, well, now. A lot has changed in the last 15,000 years, so we aim to sift through the garbage and find the best nuggets of information for your pile, bin, or turner.
